Setting Up Your Furnace System
If your furnace is currently running too hot, you may need to adjust the thermostat on your furnace. In order to do this, you will need to open your furnace door and pull the thermostat to the “normal” or low setting, as well as unplugging the furnace. Then you should turn down the heat on the furnace itself so that it is comfortable. You can then repeat this process in order to change the thermostat on the furnace itself. If your furnace is running too cold, however, you will need to adjust the thermostat on your furnace in order to bring it back up to the proper temperature range. This will require that you remove the furnace filter and hook it up to a warm source of air, such as the stove or fireplace. This step should be followed carefully so that there are no safety issues associated with doing it.
Finally, you will want to open up the furnace venting system and unplug the unit from the furnace outlet, or duct. Then you should turn off the power to the system so that you are left with a running furnace but no power. This will give you enough time to unplug the furnace from the outlet and plug it back in. Once you have finished these steps, you should have your furnace running properly again.
